Auto Insurance
Roughly one in eight drivers on the road has no insurance at all. The coverage that matters most is the one that pays when the other driver's can't. We shop your policy across 50+ carriers and set the limits where they actually protect you.

What does auto insurance cover?
Auto insurance covers the injuries and damage you cause other people in an accident, your own vehicle through collision and comprehensive coverage, and, through uninsured motorist coverage, your own medical bills when the at-fault driver carries no insurance at all.
What this policy is typically built to handle.
- Injuries you cause to other people in an at-fault accident
- Damage you cause to other vehicles and property
- State-required coverages, like Florida's personal injury protection (PIP), which pays your own medical costs regardless of fault
- Uninsured motorist coverage that pays your bills when the at-fault driver carries nothing
- Collision: repairing or replacing your vehicle after an accident, whoever's at fault
- Comprehensive: theft, weather, fire, and other non-collision losses
- Underinsured motorist coverage for when the at-fault driver's limits fall short of your damages
Who usually carries it.
- Pretty much every driver. Every state sets minimum requirements, and the minimums are thin.
- Anyone who couldn't replace their vehicle out of pocket
- Drivers in states thick with uninsured motorists, Florida among the worst
- Households with teen drivers or multiple vehicles on one policy
- Anyone financing or leasing, since the lender requires collision and comprehensive
What it does not cover
- Regular business use, like deliveries or rideshare driving, which is typically excluded unless endorsed or written on a commercial policy.
- Wear and tear and mechanical breakdown. Insurance isn't a warranty.
- Intentional damage and racing, commonly excluded.
- Custom equipment and aftermarket upgrades above small limits, unless scheduled.
- Personal items stolen from the car, which generally fall to your home or renters policy.
- Exact terms vary by carrier and policy. We'll tell you what your policy actually does before you need it.
The uninsured driver
Picture a family of four crossing a major intersection on a green light when a driver runs the red and T-bones their SUV on the passenger side. Two family members need emergency care, and the vehicle is a total loss. When police run the other driver's information, it comes back with no active insurance.
Uninsured motorist coverage is built for exactly this. It picks up the emergency room bills, the follow-up treatment, and lost wages during recovery, and collision handles the totaled vehicle. Carry real UM limits and the other driver's empty policy doesn't become your problem. Skip them and it does.

What affects your cost.
No two households price the same. The only way to know your number is to quote it, and the quoting part is our job.
- Driving history: tickets, accidents, prior claims
- Vehicle type, age, value, and safety ratings
- Limits and deductibles you select
- Annual mileage and how the vehicle is used
- Driver ages and household makeup
- ZIP code and local claims frequency
Questions we hear a lot.
State minimums are thin everywhere, and in some states they barely include meaningful injury liability at all. One at-fault accident with real injuries and your personal assets are in play for the difference. Moving from minimums to solid liability and uninsured motorist limits usually costs less than people expect, and it's the first thing we look at on any auto review.
It's often the coverage most likely to actually pay you, especially in states with lots of uninsured drivers. It responds when the at-fault driver has no insurance or not enough, covering your medical costs and lost income. Match your UM limits to your liability limits where you can. Declining UM to trim the premium is saving in exactly the wrong place, and we'll tell you so.
When the annual cost of collision plus the deductible approaches what the car is actually worth, the math stops working. Run the numbers against the car's real value, not what it means to you. We'll tell you straight when a coverage no longer earns its premium. That honesty is the whole point of working with an independent agency.
Generally yes. Most personal auto policies cancel pro-rata with the unused premium returned, though some companies apply a small fee. We line up the new policy first so the dates meet with no gap, since even a one-day lapse shows up in future pricing. You tell us once, we handle the switch.
Coverage that often pairs with this.
- Homeowners InsuranceThe house, your belongings, and your personal liability. The details that matter are the roof, the wind deductible, and the exclusions.
- Personal Umbrella InsuranceLiability limits above your home and auto policies. For the judgment that would otherwise reach your savings, your equity, your wages.
